Race Description

The inaugural Virginia Marathon is coming to Virginia’s horse and wine country this November. Developed by Old Dominion Racing, this event will include both live/in-person racing and virtual racing. All in-person racers will have access to built-in virtual training as well. The live race is Saturday November, 6, 2021, kicking off in historic Middleburg. Land at Dulles International Airport in Loudoun County and within 30 minutes, arrive at this postcard-worthy town dating back to 1787. Travel along paved roads (some gravel) in Loudoun and Fauquier counties, enjoying scenic vistas, horse farms, rolling countryside and plenty of shade. Everyone starts and ends at The Hill School, which is minutes from Middleburg’s downtown streets filled with boutiques and locally-owned restaurants. Athletes seeking a greater challenge can opt for the full or Merikós to go up Bull Run Mountain (elevation gain of 2000+ ft in total) and back again!

Middleburg, VA is known as Virginia’s Horse and Hunt Capitol, but is also well known for vineyards, hiking, and mountain views.

Also, we don't expect the need to use the Town Of Middleburg's Parking, but just in case we have received special permission to use their street parking and municipal parking lots. These are locations in town just a block or so away from The Hill School. If you do end up parking in Town, then to get to The Hill School there is a small footbridge connecting the Town to The Hill School's grounds at the end of PENDLETON ST (see blue arrow at the bottom of the image). (https://www.google.com/maps/dir//38.9670947,-77.7359082/@38.9672057,-77.7362488,169m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!4m1!3e2). Go across the footbridge and follow the signs to the Start/Finish area.

Here is an image that helps you find the correct locations to park. The 3 hour street parking will be enforced, but we are able to use the parking lots and other street parking (unlimited/8 hour parking).

Cause

10% of proceeds goes to the The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. This fund is a leader in supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. Begun in 2000 and established as an independent not-for-profit organization in 2003, the Fund has provided nearly $200 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. These efforts are funded entirely with donations from the public, and hundreds of thousands of individuals have contributed to the Fund.
